Make new containers 4 bars long.

Posted

Forgive me if this has already been brought up.  When you create a new container perhaps it could 4 bars long. When you open one now, it can be almost invisible if you're zoomed out lot.

You can select the desired position and length on the time ruler before you insert a new container. Otherwise its length is determined by the metric scheme of the progression ("one row in the scheme").

A new container's length will also be limited to the parent container's length (although you can change that manually).

And yes, this should go to a Wiki sort of page containing all the "secret" tips not yet mentioned in the user manual. Although I thought this was already in the manual.

Thanx.  Yes a number of times I didn't see that a container was created because it was so short. I kept creating new containers, until I scrolled down the container window finding several.  If you made it 1 or 4 bars, it would be one less issue of confusion to people.

It's time for me to read thru the manual again, this will be my fourth reading of it.. If you miss one of the foundation processes, it becomes impossible to understand what you further expand on.  That was one of the first things they taught in high school.  If you don't understand a word, or the meaning of the phrase, stop, and figure out what it means, because later infromation will be of much less or no value.

I think a Wiki page is great. As with all manuals, not every detail is indexed. (always a complaint of mine).  Many times in Logic, I've had to go on a 30 minute or more detour to find and read up on an important piece of trivia that was necessary to accomplish the job.

I did not mean to be a 'pest'.  The questions I repeadly ask, are becuase I'm not totally getting the point, or what I do in SFP does not match up with explanations here. ..  I certainly no dis-respect meant.  I love/hate this program.  (I'll love it more when perhaps I understand at least half of it).  While I have a resonable grasp of most of the parameters,  there is still an overlying outline or structure that is cloudy to me.. That is I'm learning little tidbits and details but lack the clarity of understanding overview of this. A  better way of learning is to understand the structure or framework of the application, and then fill in the details as you  go on.

Mentally undernourished, but still trying.  and I can see here many of us are troupers, we're not going to guit when we get stuck on something.  Imparting knowledge on the complexity and different train of thinking required to master this program is indeed quite a challenge.

Still Respectfully,

Mark just to reiterate part of what Andre said as its got me far too many times...

A new container will be created that's as long as the span you have selected on the time line. I'm often accidentally selecting just a short bit on the time line, the create a container and it's so short to be unusable. You can also change the size easily in the container parameters on the right (obviously you have to be able to select it....what was your other question about auto selecting a new container) :)
