MIDI tool that maps and makes you play scales automatically

Posted

Just a couple of days ago I found this.

This little feature should be implemented in Synfire Express/Pro since virtually all scales are already there in SF.

Andre, think about it.

No worries, this is on our to do list.

These basic tools can be fun if you start out on a few chords. What they don't address is how progressions are handled. What happens when the chord and scale change in the middle of the melody you play? Will your melody continue in a natural fashion, or will it be broken into unexpected chunks?

Hello Andre. Sorry for the delay in my response but I took a couple of days off the web. Working on an album. By the way I am plannin gon upgrading to SFP next week. I really start needing the extra feats.

Well, they way I see this is that the user should be able to choose wether to keep the impro as played on such a keyboard or let the software manage the progressions (maybe with a flag?). Since the user can already choose the vertical and horizontal scales that he/she wants to use in the progression these could be automatically imported in the keyboard before starting composing the solo or chord progression and force some notes on/off if they do not belong to the scale(s). I don't know how this can be implemented keeping in mind the complexities of SF at the moment but this should br pretty straight forward for the user nevertheless. This tool could be very useful for soloing ideas or complex harmonization of melodic lines.

Let me know your thoughts.
