ONE TIME LINE and other feature ideas.

Posted

Not sure if it would really work. You could put the time line at the bottom of containers, move the tools above master container, With one time line it might take up less space. Then one could zoom song, chords, and insruments in one step. Kinda hard to envision usefullness until you mak it.

REALLY NEED to keep instruments stationary on left side of page. Notes tracks would slide under them, so you can access, record, mute, pause, etc. When you mouse over the instrument name additional infro could temporarily appear  between the two data tracks. The instruments names in middle of song is helpful now, if complementing the first idea is too hard.  .

When you select an instrument have that automatically fill in name.  If in direct channel mode add MIDI channel.

I've got direct mode fairly well. However I can't seem to use the devic list I gave you in properly .  Riight now I've created a numbeer of Tryos devices (somewhat blindly in hopes of hitting correct conceptrion).  I'l have to read over Audo Midi setup section again, there's more that a few points I've missed.

Don't know what I was doing wrong, and now right, but I am able to get private midi to work.  But not on the device list you made for me. If I pick Device Descpription from arrangement page, I have no control over MIDI channel,

In the Audio Midi Set-up page, what does 'ambigous' mean above the available channels?

I can see you're envision the sound set-up on a much larger scale than I am initially taking.. I will get to that.  For now I want to master this direct MIDI thing and have instruments sound exactly the same in SFP and Logic, except for when I purposely change them.

Writing good code is somewhat similar to a song.  Often when you add a feature to software or a part to track, you musct go back to underpinnings of the software or song, to make the new addition work right.

In the last year with SFP.  I've gained tremendous insight which I apply to Logic as well.  I don't get stuck with things the way they are.. If a parts not working, I rip it out.  I take a previous part slide it later, and change notes to fit the current chord.  I used o make a dummy track of the chord progressionan mute it out, it shows up grey.  If you solo two tracks you see grey lines represnting chords, and you modify you part to fit in,  No biggie at all. Would have never thought of that except for SFP
