The hobbyists among you interested in orchestral music may perhaps not follow product releases as closely, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to post this on our forum. The still running BF sales may be an opportunity to complete your sound collections.
The free libraries often lack essential articulations that you will need, sooner or later (which is the point of releasing them for free). So if you can get a full orchestra with a much more complete set of articulations, it's an opportunity to consider.
This is neither an endorsement nor a review (I haven't even completed the downloads). The main reason we obtain these libraries is to make sure they work with Synfire, provide device descriptions, and to learn how to improve our articulations system in order to make arrangements more portable.
Spitfire SSO with a whopping 370 GB of samples and 600+ articulations has long been a well known flagship. With the additional 20% coupon you receive as a newsletter subscriber (IIRC, you can still subscribe before making a purchase), it's currently roughly at 272€.
Orchestral Tools Berlin (Berklee) is a complete orchestra with very many articulations. While it only offers a single mic position, it sounds as great as the (much more expensive) Berlin Series. 149€
VSL discounts are more moderate this time, probably because their entry-level collections are already very affordable. If you have VSL instruments, you may want to have a look. Their quality is beyond question.
