Out of space error when importing midi file (OSX)

Posted

I can open previously saved files as normal, but not import a new one. The same error reports on version 1.1.10 and back to 1.9.1 build 4 even after a clean re-installation.

I'm not sure what 'lack of space' the error refers to. I have 300 gigs free on the drive.

First happened after installation of 1.1.10

I'd guess 4392 bars of music are too much for figure recognition to process at a time. It looks like it's running out ot memory while attempting to enumerate the millions of possible segmentations of that track.

Admittedly this kind of obscure error message is not ideal.

Please check if you really need that many bars of music, or if there are errors in the file. We strongly recommend importing shorter snippets, as most long MIDI files tend to contain the same patterns over and over. You'll probably want to harvest the most interesting phrases only anyway.

Fixed. The problem was in Logic pro. Numerous tempi changes out to bar 4000+. Doubly strange as the exported midi snippet is only 44 notes in a 10 bar section.

I don't know where the tempi originated but I found them in the list editor and deleted. Import is now fine as before.
