Parameter Alias on Snipping Grid?

Posted

Hi, I really like this new feature: The parameter aliases. Cool things can be done with them :-)

Unfortunately I was not able to paste an alias of a parameter to a snippet - the option is greyed out there. Would be cool, to have this option also for snippets.

That's what I thought as well. There's a challenge with that because the arrangement changes all the time, which breaks aliases in the grid.

What use do you have in mind?

You are right. I also thought, that this could be tricky.

With Synfire 2 I took a snippet grid with a column of global phrases (and an additional one with Harmony :-). With all the other columns I added "Transpose", "Velocity", "MOD Wheel" to individual instruments / instrument groups and paused instruments, that should not play.

This works great for just trying several voicings and instrumentations on a common phrase, becauce you can change every detail with just one fingersnip(pet;-))).

However - bringing the result to the final arrangement could be somehow tricky, because the common phrase had to be deleted and copied to individual instruments to integrate the voiced/instrumented phrase into the whole arrangement.

I thought that an "Parameter Alias" for "Figure" could solve this much more convinient, because the figure parameter could be an alias of a masterphrase in the snippet grid.

But that could be also tricky, if you want to try out different phrases / snippets, because then the alias would have to follow the selection of the masterphrase snippet.

Maybe there is an obvious solution for that, that I cannot see right now - just thinking a little bit too complicated with those Aliases ;-)))
