Possible solution for the "Keep Plugin Windows on top issue.

Posted

Hey all,

just had an idea how to solve the issue that some users are having

regarding the fact that Plugins loaded into Synfire can't stay on top.

Before Digital Performer 8 was released (where you can choose

between letting plugins stay on top or not, same as in Cubase)

DP 7 and earlier had the same problem.

MOTU solved this with including a shortcut called "push window to back"

which (I guess...) basically just called an OSX system function that

changed the window index of the main window.

(AFAIK OSX Application Windows always have index numbers/levels attached to their windows.

I do not know the actual PC/Windows counterpart of this function though.)

Fact is, I actually liked this a lot, because you didnt even need

to close and open plugins all the time, you could just hit the command

and show/hide the plug. (or "swap" the front window so to speak)

Believe it or not, this is actually more convenient than to have a plug in window

sticky on top all the time which gets often in the way.  Image removed.

Just some food for thought.

Best,

tL.

(I also might be able to pull together an Apple Script to do this.

When I am sucessful I will share it here. )
