Questions re Libraries

Posted

1. I created a new library, then exited Synfire Pro. I've now re-opened my project, but don't know where to look to find the library I created. Maybe I didn't save it? On pg 10 of the manual it says to go File>>New>>Library, but I want to see an already existing library.

2. I can't seem to drag a phrase into a library. That same pg 10 says "Simply use the mouse to throw complete containers, phrases...into the bottom list in the window." Over the years I've dragged plenty of things using a mouse, but I can't seem to drag a phrase into a library. Maybe I'm not grabbing the right place or area.

3. I see there's an Embedded Phrase Library. Mine happens to be empty. I think I saw a message to the effect that nothing can be added to the Embedded Phrase Library. Well, if it's empty and nothing can be added to it, it seems rather pointless, wouldn't you say? So obviously I'm missing something here, but I don't know what it is.

Thanks.

File >> Open will also open libraries. File >> New >> Library gives you an empty standalone Library Editor, from which you can also open library files.

The embedded library is initially empty, because it is part of the arrangement. It is kind of a clipboard that's saved with your song.

You can use the embedded library view to show other libraries, too. Use the cogwheel menu for that. Some built-in libraries are protected, that is, you can't add phrases to them. You can, of course, add phrases to your own libraries.
