Hi Cognitones
As an opposite to "duplicate selection" (cmd-d) I would like to have a function that randomly deletes 50% (by default) of the choosen selection. As shortcut cmd-k would be nice, afak this shortcut is not used yet.
Would be a great tool to thin out arrangements, or midi-imports or whatever.
;-) If one dosn't like the random, he can undo and redo …
Eventually, it would be cool if one can change the percentage of deleting by prefs, maybe, I dunno.

Yeah. I confess I have a lot of similar ideas collected already and think your's perfectly fits into that scheme.
This kind of random orchestration functions however need to be laid out very carefully. In theory, there are hundreds (thousands?) and I do much prefer to have six or eight only that complement each other.

Hi Andre,
You are abslolutely right: random functions really need care, all the more, whe they have to be implemented as so generally you are thinking to do it in Synfire.
But this, you call it random orchestration, was not the clue of my suggest. What I'm looking for, is an easy quick-&-dirty way to thin out things (now I do it "by hand", maybe as randomly as the computer would :clueless:). For this aim, in my opinion, a random-delete is the best way to do.
But if there are some even better solutions - just go on!

PS ;-) Why is it all the time in this mailbox something after then o'clock in the morning?
