Remove limitation on note length

Posted

I sometimes have a need for very long notes, 8 bars long! In synfire though it seems to reject entering lengths greater than 4 in the parameter window. If I do midi imports sometimes I end up with long notes, and I can drag notes to make long notes but this seems to screw thing up. I know I have to alter the interpretation so it ignores the voice leading.

Why do I want this? I sometimes make drone sounds with multiple lfo modulations. Or use an arp on one f my synths. Currently I have to do this in ableton which is a pain if I change the key or chord progression in synfire. I then have to manually alter the note by hand.

Enter note lengths into the inspector field like

12/1

24/1

32/1

etc.

There is a limitation that will not display sustained tails of notes that started long ago outside the current view when you scroll to the right, but this does not affect the note itself.

I will try gin tonight, last time I tried it, entered 16/1 and when changing focus it changed back to 4/1. Will post my findings later

I just record them like everything else, works fine but yeah, tedious to hold down a note for a minute :D

Pedal tones FTW  (Unless it's a bagpipe :D )
