request: Audition Selected

Posted

Primarily this request is aimed toward the tagging of takes. I find that when I am CTRL selecting notes to group into a segment...manually identifying dense chord material IE: RACHMANINOV :) Synfire will audition them together for each selected note, BUT there is no way (unless I am missing something) to replay it without deselecting/reselecting something.. So the idea is to maybe have an "audition selected" (shift+space?) to replay the selection? Seems like it would be easy to implement since it is being done already, just once.

I just think this could be really useful note only while manually tagging things, but possibly in the phrase editor too. Especially if you have a bunch of notes selected manually and also have a palette open that you are playing a few frozen chords and want to audition the selection again to confirm your ideas.

Nice idea. That function exists already. The only issue is to assign it to a suitable key.

BTW: When importing Rachmaninov, Chopin and other complex piano music, you should take care the soure material is properly timed. I mean, Synfire can handle human performances well (unquantized), but I often found these midi files to be live performances recorded without /any/ relation to the midi clock :(

I'll put my vote in to use Shift+Space as the key for that feature. :)

That said, I've definitely noticed that fact about those piano pieces. It is a bit of work, but I think the payoff can be large once the work is done. 8)
