see what instruments are involved

Posted

I find this still a mess in Synfire to see what instruments are involved in a songsection..whole arrangement.
Is there no graphical total oversight possible what shows what instruments are playing in the arrangement ?
This makes it also a lot easier for composing..

An overview of the whole arrangement is only possible in the root container with all instruments expanded.

Yes, but useless the rootcontainer to see what instruments in songsections are actual playing
The program must check on the pause parameter and on existence of phrase ( a container without a phrase cannot generate a output )..probably too complicated to program.

Im sure ive suggested this before to you, but turn on the trace parameter function. You can then see which containers contribute to a selected parameter (or selected figure). its just a matter of running though each instrument and looking at the green lines against the different containers.

To see what the resultant output across all instruments looks like, look in your daw or export to score and look at that. You can also look at the matrix to see whats generating stuff at that point in time, or the little volume meters on the left hand side of the arrangement.

Yes , trace parameter function .. i use this often.
The Matrix gives some aid with the colored mixerstrip ( for pauze) and volume metering, but for the rikko intro ..still too complex when you select the 2 containers intro and mutes and try to deduce it in one step.
I can figure out exactly what instrument here are playing and where, but by reasoning.
