SF2 - Copy / Paste behavior

Posted

Hi,

if I copy paste a figure it behaves very strange. I don't know what it is doing. It places the figure somewhere and moves others around.

What is somehow more normal is the "paste and merge" function. But it places the copy only correct if I select the position with the span-tool before.

If select a figure and just pressing ctrl+c and alt+v, I dont see where it placed it.

I guess other users may feel the same like me.

IMHO it should with strg+v do what alt+v is doing but placing it where the mouse clicked. Even if the span-tool is not used.

I guess most people use the pointer-tool to work with. And then a copy/paste should work with it more easy. As it behaves so unpredicted I don't use the copy/paste anymore but just duplicate.

Maybe worth to rething the copy/paste of figures.

best regards,

It depends on what was copied to the clipboard and where the Paste command is sent.

If you copy an outlet (LED), the entire parameter will be on the clipboard. If you copy a span, a partial span of the parameter will be on the clipboard. Segments and symbols can live on the clipboard as individual objects.

If you paste segments or symbols, they are inserted at their original position, unless you select a target position with the span tool.

If you paste a (partial) parameter, it will replace the entire parameter, unless you select a target position or span to replace.

If you send the Paste command to an outlet, the entire parameter will be replaced, no matter what's on the clipboard.

The pointer tool cannot select a target position, although it can select a target segment/symbol to be replaced.
