Snippet Scheduling and Selection, Could it be Automatic?

Posted

Hi,

Current behavior as I observe with snippets is for scheduling/launching (click on the arrowhead) and selection (click elsewhere, not on the arrowhead) to be completely decoupled.   This is understandable as these are in fact logically different operations, and also when a whole bunch of snippets get scheduled/launched at once we certainly wouldn't want the selection to go rat-a-tat-tat-tat ... through the whole list of them!

OTOH, when I schedule/launch a single snippet with a single manual click on the arrowhead, I almost always want to (at that point) -see- that snippet (e.g. Figure, or whatever parameter is current) rather than anything else.   So, of course I then click a 2nd time to select it and all is well.

I bring this up though because the need to "click twice" in this situation is so frequent that I find myself wishing for Synfire to be smart enough to do this automatically for me.

IOW, SF would be aware that the user did a single manual click, and in that case only, update the selection as well (by default, or optionally).

I wonder what Andre and others would think about this particular workflow shortcut.    Possible/impossible, good/bad?
