Source of Harmony for Snippets Audio Export?

Posted

Hi,

I have a snippets matrix and I am working with the 'Export Audio Loops' operation.

My matrix has a Harmony column, like so:

What I seem to be observing is that whatever harmony I put in the first location (upper left of the above picture) is the harmony that I get in the export.

So, if I do 3 different exports, replacing that first item each time, I can get different harmonies output to different directories, like this:

So, first, I would like to confirm that I'm observing correctly - IOW, that the first harmony in the matrix is the one used for output.

If so, then what is the actual technical definition of "first" here?

Beyond that basic question/confirmation about how this operation currently functions, I'd like to suggest that having to re-arrange the matrix in order to change the harmony of the output is not really desirable.   IOW, it would be better to work off of some selection

or else the stored global harmony (which we could update at will), or some other method that would not involve re-arranging the matrix cells.

As I'm still unsure about the basics, an explanation of this subject in as much depth as possible would be appreciated.   Thanks!

IIRC, it uses the global harmony you set for the grid. At least that would be intuitive. Will check the code.

That's what I thought was supposed to happen, and I seem to recall that at some point that's what did happen, but that is not what I'm observing now.

Please let us know what you find.    Thanks!

Snippets export uses the currently selected snippet as the harmony reference if it has a Harmony parameter. Otherwise the first snippet with a Harmony parameter is used by default.

Select a harmony snippet you want to use before you run the export.
