How about to make a scaleset with : C.lydian and C.Dorian and C.Mixolydian than you hear the difference between the scales ?...but that's not necessary. Seems to me also for composing easier to start with the scales (multiple scales) you want to use , on the same tonic
A Scaleset seems to be more functional..because all to use scales are grouped together.
Example : i do have here a arrangement what uses 3 scales
The scalesets are intended to extend the chord palettes with additional chords, i.e. chords that do not belong to the actual key but are related to the key. For example the standard major key palettes use a scaleset that consists of the standard major scale, the harmonic-major scale and the melodic-major scale. That's the reason, why the C major palette for example includes also chords like Fm, Gm and Ddim that actually do not belong to the C major key.
So in short: Scalesets are mainly a thing to build up chord palettes. I'm not sure if they will help you at your current task (entering notes from music theory lessons). I would enter the scales one after the other as I have shown it in the video (well, I would probably use a standard notation editor for that task, but that's a different thing).

Doing symbol entry in the static mode ( bypassing VL ) is against Synfire's nature, when it should have a standard notation editor i can stay in Synfire
But even when you are working in the default mode of Synfire with VL ( voiceleading) you can enter the lessons notes..if you are sure that they have the right position in the phrase editor grid ....when playing it could never sound wrong ..so if you make a mistake ..it doesn't matter..Synfire sounds always good !
So i am thinking to forget the phrase editor with a bypassed VL to work with :thumbsup:
Ps: is it not a joy to use Synfire ?..never a wrong note from it..very musical friendly. I should make a song for Synfire : My musical Heaven( is coming now)

Yes, that's true, scalesets are some scales bundled together. But the use of these "scales bundles" take place primarily in the palettes. And Synfire use them for internal calculations. But they will probably not help you much when entering your music lessons.
I do have serious problem with Synfire Express.. i really have given it a try I cannot compose with it from lessons.
It is unworkable to make my composing first in Cubase and import it Synfire Express.
So i am feeling stuck with the program.. i like to have a more controlled composing to learn from, before i drag phrases in and changing them intuiative.
I made a small piece not by checking the notepositions.. the desired result was still not here, so i chanced

My idea was to bundle the 3 to use scales instead of to make 3 different palettes for it
By using a scaleset, than it is sufficient to use only one palette and choose from there the reference scale ( the actual scale in the arrangment )
I still not found how to get the chords who are belonging to the key in a palette?.. must be easy
