Synfire 2.2.2

Posted

Synfire 2.2.2 Build #1 is available now.

While the previous update included a lot of changes with the Audio Engine and plug-in management (and therefore incremented the minor version number), this one is more incremental.

This update improves the handling of articulations and custom controllers.

Device descriptions are now ensured to have unique names when you save them as a global device (export from arrangement) or download devices from the Repository. You will be asked what to do when a device with the same identifier already exists. This makes updating devices more intuitive and safe.

As always, the list of changes can be found here.

Just a heads-up - I'm on a MacBook M1 running MacOS 12.6.6, and I am unable to install the latest version.  I receive the error message:

"REQUIREMENT_FAILED_MESSAGE_INSTALLATION_CHECK_1"

Cheers,

Looks like a glitch with the French localization. We've seen this before and it seems to be a bug with the packaging tool.

The message indicates that your Mac does not meet a system requirement.

If possible, you can temporarily switch your Mac to English, do the installation and switch back to French. That should help as a workaround until this is fixed.

Hi there,

Thanks for your quick reply!  Just to be clear, I am not using French on my computer, my language preference is "English (Canada)".

Do you think my computer doesn't actually reach the minimum requirements, is that a glitch?  I find it hard to believe it wouldn't - it's a fairly new computer, though, admittedly, I'm delaying updating the OS until i know all my music software/hardware will work.

Cheers,

Joel

You can also try and look into the Synfire Pro.mpkg package and install the packages found inside manually.

There is clearly something wrong with the outer package. The issue was previously associated with French localization and it didn't come up with this release before.

Ok, I'll try that.

When installing manually like this, does anything need to be done with:

distribution.dist
English.lprog
monolith.spcl

?

Thanks again,

Joel

Hello, I am having an issue with snippets and that is when you change the length or number of bars of a harmony snippet, the length of time will not change, so say for example I place a snippet with a harmony that is 2 bars long and then I change the harmony to be 4 bars long, only the first 2 bars will play. On the other hand if I take a 4 bar hamony snippet and cut it down to 2 bars, the snippet will act as if it's playing 4 bars but its ony repeating the first 2 bars. Its seems as if the snippet length is set when it is inially placed but does not respect changes that are made to the snippet harmony length once placed down.

That's true. The length of a snippet is a property of the snippet container (edit it on the container tab of the parameter inspector). Harmony, like all other parameters, is clipped to container length.

To edit a snippet container, double-click on the snippet in the grid.
