Synfire audio engine on network

Posted

Hi. This is my first post - so sorry if this is a silly question, but I can't find the answer in the forum.

Is it possible to run a Synfire Audio engine instance on my desktop, and connect to it from Synfire running on my laptop? As it connects via local network, I thought this might be possible, but can't work out how?

cheers, Ruchir.

Yes, you can.

Install the Audio Engine on your desktop, open the user interface and configure the IP address of your laptop (where Synfire will run). Synfire is the server and the engines are clients that logon to the server.

Currently all audio will be sent to the desktop's audio interface, though. You will need to plug your monitor speakers into the desktop.

I am assuming all of this is not possible with the demo version?

EDIT: Ok, I've resolved it. It is possible with the demo version. Just need to launch the audio engine by restarting the Synfire demo and ignoring the local connection error warnings.
