I have to say 'thank you' to Andre and any other people who have conceived and written this incredible piece of software. It is the compositional tool I've been looking for since I got into computer based-music.
Let me share my setup.
My workflow consists of running Synfire Pro as the frontend to Cubase 5 (transport locked by Rewire.) The instruments are all loaded through a template in Cubase into two instances of VE Pro running on the host and another computer. Midi is sent to Cubase from Synfire via MOL.
Since I'm using a template I can jump between Synfire Projects near instantaneously. When I've committed to a piece I set up my punch in and outs in Cubase and hit the record light on Synfire and it lays everything into Cubase where I do final midi tweaking and add ornamentals to the music. I'll share some work when I get done.
Very little I'd ask for (except maybe 8 midi ports) but this is so rock-solid especially for a version 1.x that I'm sold for life. Plus it's become an incredible teacher for me on music theory.
Thanks again Cognitone. This is indeed unique.

Well again, I must apologize.
Digging into the audio and midi setup I see you simply have to make different devices and that opens up an additional 4 ports each time. And its smart enough to suggest substitues when you make changes.
Should have guessed these guys figured it out already.
