Is there a way to retrieve crashed files?

Posted

I had a file lock up on me - I was editing something and it froze and wouldn't unfreeze.

Anyway I had to restart synfire.

I don't suppose that file would be anywhere as a temp file would it?

I had just put together something I liked the sound of so I'd like ot retrieve it if possible?

Also, if not, how about a crash retrieval system, live has a basic one (if you don't retrive the first time it's opened it's gone for good which can sometimes be a pain).

I am guessing the answer is no but thought worth asking....

Command-S is your friend. It keeps the most recent 5 versions, but you can easily increase that number to 10,20,... in the global preferences. You can restore a backup from the File menu.

We plan on triggering this automatically every 10 minutes or so. At the time being however, this needs more work, as Synfire can't save an arrangment while it is playing.

Yes,

My own fault. Am so used to working with something that will retrieve my data if it does crash so forgot to save.

Something like a retrieve crashed file system would be pretty cool
