The timeline will disappear after a short amount of time, usually both container and arrangement. The song length sometimes keeps accurate time, other times will update after 8 seconds or so, other times will not increment at all.
You can save the arrangement, close and reopen, that usually gets timeline going again. You don't have to completely quit and re=start
