Ableton Live 10 added the ability to use the trackpad for zoom and scroll with just 2 fingers in the piano view and it has made a world of difference for navigating large scores. It is an intuitive way to work.
When I try the same thing in Synfire I get horrible lag, I assume because it isn't designed for this type of navigation. Instead, we have to use tiny little separate buttons at the edge of the view. Keyboard shortcuts exist as well, but neither of these solutions is as seemless and fluid as trackpad zoom and scroll.
I'm refering to the Mac verison. I'm not sure how well it would work on PC.
Thanks for considering this suggestion!

Thanks for the reply. Yes scrolling works, technically, but it doesn't work well. It is not smooth and seemless. There is a lot of lag when scrolling. When scrolling a large score, for example, I scroll with the trackpad, and then wait a while for Synfire to catch up.

The new 1.10.6 improves horizontal scrolling a bit.
There's still no pinch zoom, but it's on our list. Synfire uses Smalltalk for the AI and knowledge-based stuff. With C++ this project would have never existed. The language is extremely powerful, agile and productive (coding is possible while the program is running), but it doesn't support many modern UI features out of the box. That's why some seemingly basic things are more difficult for us to do.
