Transient drone and some audiotracks

Although Juergen has 7.5 and I don't think he gets the problem you're getting with the transient drones, so maybe it would be wasted effort.

Well this issue looks very similar to that one I experience occasionally. The "DAW 3 Cubase" tab (or similar) simply does not shine up in the Audio & Midi setup. But as I said, starting Synfire multiple times and/or changing the startup order of Cubase and Synfire sometimes help.

I don't remember how it was on Cubase 7.0. There were different issues at that time. But then Synfire also was at a different state. V1.5 or 1.6 maybe.

But listen... if Juergen has the same cubase version like me and the transient drones are recognised in Cubase , then it has it something to do with my Cubase 64 bit installation.

It shouldn't be necessary to have to do that though.  If it's meant to work, it should always work but maybe there's too many variables in place when using two pieces of software at the same time.  Hopefully though, we can get to the bottom of it because I do like using this set up.

Thanks for the video.

It's indeed that the drone in Cubase does not connect to Synfire, for whatever reason.

What happens when you temporarily disable Windows Firewall? Actually it should not be necessary, because loopback IP connections to 127.0.0.1 are always allowed, but who knows ...

Ah and this has nothing to do with 64 bit. TCP/IP connections are not affected by that.

For windows firewall i allow two exceptions for scanning..synfire and cubase 7.5 and virus scanner exception in Norton for cubase 7.5 and synfire, but this doesn't seems to help to show up the DAW3 ..connection tab
This problem with establishing the DAW3 connection in synfire with a DAW was not a problem in Cubase32 bit as it seems.

I disabled now completely the windows firewall as proposed..makes no diiference there is no DAW3 ... connection
Has it to do with Cubase 7.5 ?, because it is working with windows 7.

I installed cubase 6.5 and it has still yet the same problem with Synfire ..no 64 bit recognition

There is no norton firewall included with Norton antivirus and network protection is there.
This brings me on the idea to set off Norton antivirus/windows firewall and disconnection for internet as test

No improvement .. it doesn't matter if virusscanner or firewall is off.
Problem is possible the computer, there is maybe a another application what's interferring with Synfire ?

Best is to have a dedicated music computer..

What possible programs on my computer could be responsible that the 64 cognitone is not recognized in Cubase 64 bit by Synfire?

If the "Transport Generic" appears in Synfre, the ReWire conection works.

If the "DAW3 Generic" tab does not appear on the global rack, you may have a TCP/IP conection issue. Please check the Engine's user interface (open from Taskbar) and the IP address entered there. It must be 127.0.0.1.

I tested all with the virusscanner and firewall, but that seems to be of no influence..so what's left to look at ?

I disabled the audio engine for the transient drone..so there is no engine user interface anymore
I must then reable the audioengine again ?

I did and engine2/x64 shows IP 127.0.0.1  ..now i must disabled the audioengine again for the transient drone again?
Maybe i can give up for the windows firewall a allowing of IP adress 127.0.01 ?

Nasty problem this .. there is no software to investigate this connection issue? ..32 bit Cubase is normal working with the DAW3 generic connection, but not with 64 bit Cubase ?

If the "DAW3 Generic" tab does not appear on the global rack, you may have a TCP/IP conection issue.

Is it possible that this is a 64 bit issue with the network software from the motherboard of computer ? , although internet is working normal ..

I guess if you really wanted to examine the flow of data, you could install something like wireshark. That would assume that the software is able to open its ports and is trying to communicate. All this would tell you though is that for instance synfire was sending out info or not.

Maybe there is some hidden option to turn on some logging info?

Thanks Blacksun, Examine flow of data ...i will look at it
Maybe that this in Synfire could be built in ? ..like the sound monitoring
Composing with the transient drone could be a rewarding experience and therefore to support this more in Synfire to get a easy connection with the DAW.

Looks promising this open source program wireshark..
How to test this with Synfire and Cubase ?
Synfire makes no connection with the cognitone drone in Cubase.

I must check with wireshark.. if this IP adress 127.0.01 somewhere is blocked ?

I tested again Cubase 7.5 -32 bit and all is working fine ..there is a DAW3 generic tab to see without the audioengine in Synfire used.

It is not working in Cubase 64 bit.. there is no DAW3generic ..so what causes this ?
The cognitone drone 64 bit is loaded in Cubase..
(  i used sharkwire  and there was no local host to see for the LAN and i did a new advanced allowing for the windows firewall for Synfire and Cubase, but it doesn't help )

Sorry Jan but I'm not sure we can help any further.  It looks like an issue that needs to be resolved by technical support.  Obviously you're doing everything right if it's working for the 32 bit version.  But Juergen has it working with 64 and 7.5 (although with a few problems sometimes it seems).  I'm thinking of upgrading (finally) to 7.5 this weekend for other reasons.  If I do, I'll let you know if it works for me.

I have the idea that the 64 bit Cognitone somehow is not recognized.
When i search on my computer with the dronename i get a xml file  ?
Plug> <FilePath>/E:/Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins/CognitoneDrone.dll</FilePath> and
<FilePath>/C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins/CognitoneDrone.dll</FilePath>

The actual drone is situated on on diskdrive : H

OK ..i solved the problem finally !

The DAW4 generic/x64 tab is showing up :yeah:
The culprit was that there were 2 64 bit drones installed on diskdrive H with different paths and also with different sizes
So i took the biggest one and relocate it to the Cubase path and now it works ok.
There was a earlier installation of Synfire...what left a drone
