Unable to relocate plugins into Live 9. Relocate button greyed out.

Posted

I am running 32bit windows XP with Hypersonic 2 and Halion Sonic as my GM synths in Synfire.
I successfully synched up Live and Synfire.
I added the drones.
When i try to relocate the drones, the "relocate" button is greyed out.

I have tried opening synfire first and live first with no success.  I have tryed using the Steinberg AISO server to allow me to run both sequencers on the same driver.

Any tips?

Running fine here on osx.
Did you try and open ableton ( with the drones ) first and then opening sf ?

Yes, i even have a live set with drones and transport settings on a audio track. The only option that is not greyed out is privatize.

Just check you aren't using a shared or global rack. Not sure but don't think these can be relocated only private ones...I might be wrong though.

Yes I am using a shared rack, but i thought that we were supposed to.

I tied privatizing the instrument but that still wont allow me to relocate.

I have found that if i privatize the instrument, a "drone" check box appears over the port button. when i check the box, the green box above the port button turns orange. If i then select "daw live1" from the port menu, the box turns green again but the device settings (interments type, playing range, ect) all get reset to piano.

At this point i can then go into live and load the desired plug in into the drone, and get it to play in live but this process is long tedious and unpractical. On top of that the above processes scrambles the settings for other instruments some times.

There has to be a specific reason or circumstance that is preventing me from using the relocate function.

I have spent a lot of time searching the forums, the manual and trial & error. now I'm starting to get frustrated.

It is necessary to work for the relocate function, that you have choosen also a sound and the soundcategory for that sound in Synfire.

This video ( from the WIKI page here !) works for Cubase for relocate ( exporting ) a Vsti from Synfire to Cubase https://users.cognitone.com/content/relocating-vsti-engine-drone-cubase

It is also possible to use native Ableton VSti ( no need for relocating, because the Vsti is already there)..than you must use a "midi drone" opposite the " standard drone" for relocating Vsti's

For this is also a tutorial made by @juergen too..it is the same idea for Ableton  i think
