Will all SYNFIRE updates be made available free of charge? Such as the audio engine and the like?

Posted

I ask simply because the price of SYNFIRE is already extremely steep! Or at least free to your loyal customers (me being one of them) that bought SYNFIRE during the early bird phase. I am looking forward to the long awaited VST support. This looks very tasty. :op LOL.

All updates until 1.9.999 will be for free.

Looking at all the updated and added features of 1.5, it is actually a 2.0. Large portions of the code were rewritten from scratch. The old midi system was thrown out and replaced by a new one. Working with Synfire now feels really different!

We believe native audio support should have been present from the beginning, so Andre just called it "1.5" to make everyone happy.

Thank you!!! This truly puts my mind at ease and now really justifys the higher price of Synfire. Well, to be fair, I have no regrets paying what I did for Synfire, the fact you're adding what you are below update 2.0 is greatly appreciated. It seems there will be a fairly descent core system before 2.0. So any update that follows with 2.0 will be worth paying for. I mean I understand that software companies need to make money. Like with Sonar, I have bought every update they released up to 8.5, and felt quite okay doing so. Because the core system was decent and everything that followed made sense to upgrade to. Also the pricing was reasonable. Now I stopped upgrading as soon as Sonar X1 came out, because 8.5 was enough, for me. They really stablized the software at 8.5, and I have no plan to go to Windows 7. The whole facelift thing is very cool and they took the same approach Adobe has with the toolbar palette concept. However, I've worked with software long enough and I very much am a "if it ain't broke don't fix it type of guy." XP works for me, 32bit works for me, Sonar 8.5 works for me. I hope this gives some insight into how others, perhaps even you, look at updates, upgrades, and justifying when it makes sense to continue and when to say enoughs enough.
