Windows only : a Cubase video for setting up Drones ?

Posted

Again complicated... using drones is a more complicated setup than only standalone SFE

There is

Now i must try to setup Drones in Cubase  6.5

- first disable the 2 audioengines in SFE

.............

- multi -timbral ..Also possible to use a GM device description ? ( for that you must setup 16 drones )

 - or a channel assignment

--------------------------------------

i read again the manual to try to setup drones , but this manual is written by a programmer , so i can't blame him for that it is not good.

Hopefully we get a video how the programmer André has this all in mind about setting up drones.

Hey check out (http://youtube.com/user/cognitone) and look for the videos about linking synfire with ableton live, personus and logic. Although there isn't a video about cubase I sure if you have been using cubase you will understand what you need to do to setup the drones.

Thanks!

Setting up Drones in the video: startpoint is SFE itself with a Vsti and than relocate the VSti them to the DAW

There is als another procedure from @Juergen to get Drones, but that seems to be more work (complicated? )

OK, i managed after a half hour ! ( Synfire settings were completely gone random by earlier configurations: the problems with the korg nano2 keyboards helps me out to get the right setup also back.. i have used all knowledge, also from earlier setup experiences) to get the 32 and 64 bit engine get working with Halion 4.. 32 and 64 bit plug ins.

Halion4 for the GM soundset sounds good ( also for the Halion you need to load a GM multi + 2 midi options )

This is a now a further basis for setting up the drones..but i like to see a video for setting up Drones in Cubase

Still complex, because the video uses a time parameter as i can see it now and there is not such a time parameter in SFE
Stupid all.

Yes than i get a rewire Transport Sync + Tempo as option to choose

Than further in Cubase ?

Note : The rewire Transport Sync + Tempo already  worked for me in Cubase and Synfire, but in that setup i don't used drones ..there was only a audio in Cubase and it works , but as we know this setup is not working in Windows {( synfire +internal Vsti)+ (Cubase)..without drones--> gives 2 conflicting audio-drivers }  because the nano2 keyboard is not working

Now i add 4 drones( the same number as synfire has ) in Cubase .. now the transportsynchronization must also be working?, when i make the 2 option in SFE for Rewire

Test: i add a audio test (love will survive) ..but there is no sync between the transport of the 2 programs

( could be that thew drone  channel spoils this, because the input/output routing  of a track must als be prepaired: ??

I must again now  study the video's again (luckily i use two flatcsreen)

Note: i do have a tutorial from @juergen how to setup drones ( by  hand ..not with synfire via relocate ) ..ehh

3  videotutorials and a papertutorial .. suppose i can get further with video tutorials, than i must fall back on the paper tutorial from @juergen and i have help of @blacksun and others

Summarize:

  • Drones with relocate ( by Synfire) them from Synfire  to the DAW
  • Drones by hand .. Vsti are installed by user in DAW and than connected in DAW and Synfir ( see papertutorial from @Juergen)

I think i must use device in Cubase: Transport rewire  .. but is this necessary you want sync two audiofiles( i am not sure about this ) ( Synfire and Cubase)..that is not the case here..Cubase must only play along  audiochannel that starts/stops with the transport of SFE

Than it should be enough only the to use th erewire option SFE.. test this out ..but not working in this setup

It seems to me that the drones channels and the audiochannel has no influence on the rewire transport sync?

Ok , let me than removed the drones and leave alone the audiochannel and test the rewire sync

Note: studying the 3 videotutorial s is also difficult , because all 3 programs are different so you must exactly now how it works all those concepts..crazy this

I get the idea the SFE also never will be for the "mass", perhaps for a seasonised dance producer ( big business here in Holland 750 million trade for this music with the dj's)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

i THINK THAT COGNITONE MUST MAKE A VIDEO FOR CUBASE ( IT IS THEIR WORK ) AND I AM GETTING TIRED OF THIS

No offense, but if you could put your posts shorter and more focussed, it would be easier to give answers. It is difficult to follow your stream of mixed thoughts. Let us know what you wanted to do, what you did so far, and where you got stuck.

We might eventually add a video for Cubase, but that is not really necessary, because it works the same way like every DAW:

  1. Add ReWire "Transport" to the DAW.
  2. Check External Synchronization in Synfire, if Transport is linked.
  3. Add "Drone" VSTs to DAW, as many you need.
  4. Pick these up in Synfire for use in a project.

Thanks,

Yes i spent enough time now on the setup learning of HN2 in the past and now at the present for Synfire Express, so the next posts will be more to the point.

Let me try these steps you give me

Please, make a video of this for Cubase ( windows ) for setting up Drones .. i have enough of this set up crap and don't want to think about it anymore .
