working with the demo

Posted

ok so im working with the demo,

is there any way i can turn off the passing notes, and ebelishments that comes with each chord change ?

i basically just want to create piano chord progression with a simple 4/4 beat, im sure you can do it but i cant see how its done ?

trying to see which version i actually buy as the tool seems very good, once you understand it and can use it correctly

Have you tried the Chords-Only mode in the Playback menu? This gives you vanilla sustained chords.

i did indeed put chords only mode but then it switched from piano to a string, which i dont want, and its still got the passing notes and embelishments between chord changed ??

also can you alter the quantize to 16th notes as it would feel much more flexable to create stacato style chord stabs

all i want to do is create simple progressions no passing notes, no embelishments,

In chords-only mode, you can switch from the default strings sound to an other sound by editing the global instruments (Playback >> Audio & MIDI Setup). Change the instrument labeled "Chords".

A quantization of 1/16 is possible already. Select the 16 item from the grid tool in the progression editor. This will allow for positioning of chords at 1/16 precision.

What pasisng tones and embellishments do you mean? Chords-only mode does not create any :-?

many thanks ineed, thats really helpful and useful for me to know, its always hard when your learning new bits of tech,

the passing notes may have been when i muted all backing tracks as i could find out how to switch the strings to piano in the chords only mode,

sorry to be a pain but is the demo timmed or just have limited fucntions ? ive not had the time i wanted to test it out lately and decide if its for me,

so far i think its very useful indeed, just have to think about the LE version or full version really,

the main difference is you cant import files to the LE version right ?

The demo is time limited. You would need to install on another computer or laptop for another 30 days.

The difference between LE and Advanced Edition is detailed in the product comparison chart here:

Basically, LE does not have the song window, harmonizer, patterns (phrases), recording and import. It is just a plain palette surfer in chords-only mode. LE features the same complete harmony model as Advanced, though.

So I can still create chord progressions and export as midi files,
choosing key scale etc but I wouldn't see the play back of my chords,
as an song?
So I guess it would be harder to edit and alter progressions

LE has a fulf featured progression editor too. You just won't be able to render the progression with multiple musical styles. It only plays the chords as they are, inversions and voicing matched to the sound's capabilites.

Although, there is one special accompaniment pattern in LE, the "Scale Prober" that renders scales played up and down quickly with bass and chords. It can be helpful to judge a scale's character.
