Yamaha sw1000xg - Snth 1 and Synth 2 - PROBLEM - BSOD if used together in one arrangement

Sun, 2016-08-07 - 18:07 Permalink

I did the same as you. Without Wrapper is not possible. By me is Orchestral shown two times as VST choice. I just tried with 4 instances and that means 64 channels! It takes unbelievable less memory! About 500 MB. For automation I must first find out. What is with Virtual Sound Canvas and win 7?

i don't think there is a re-engineered version of HYPER CANVAS to find for windows 7.

Other thing: i hope that with the help of Cognitone we can use the sw1000xg as hardware midi sound module.
If there is a midi in for sw1000xg then a GM device description is not difficult to make ..can you do that ?

Yes, I use this first midi out port (SW1000 #1) with GM description and that works well.

Thank you very much for everything!

Lets compose, and when there will be a new version for Synfire Pro with new improved features..

thanks for the pictures.

With all other software no problems to use both midi outputs at time, 32 midi channels!

there is only one midi port showing on your inputs tab. a midi port only has 16 channels. where do you get the other 16 chennels from?

a BSOD would only be caused by kernel bugs. Synfire is unable to do that (no kernel code), so this is probably a driver problem.

Thank you supertonic, SW1000 has only one midi in port and two midi out ports - SW1000 Synth 1 and SW1000 Synth 2 with 16 channels each. Most probably that is a driver problem. But one thing... how that does not happen with XG Works, Cubase 8.5 Pro, Jammer 6 Professional, Obtiv Octava Tonsatz, Pizzicato professional and so on? Maybe is Synfire confused how to declare SW1000 synths (1 and 2) as software instead like hardware or otherway round? No idea...

But before sw1000xg can act as a midi soundmodule for all sounds ( 1671 ?)  .. it needs a DD (device description) ..who is making this ?
A rack (midi port) can hold up to 16 midichannels..two racks 32 midichannels ..
If it is possible to assign all sounds of sw1000xg to a rack, you can add as many instruments as you like in the arrangementscreen...or do i miss something?

SW1000 has ton generator XG level 3. This level had only stand alone external hardware midi modules like yamaha MU 100 and 128. These modules had 2 midi ports (A and B with 16 midi channels each)These module could accept ap too 3 daughter cards to mont in such as vl 100 or 150. I remember that the company CENTON ELECTRONIC produced the containers for such daughter cards wich could contain up to 6 or up too 10 cards, I am not sure any more. All of this does not exist any more.

Yes, you can add up too 32 instruments at a time, all adressed through program change and bank change LSB (conroler 32) SW1000 is actually MU 100 but as sound card.

Tue, 2016-08-09 - 10:57 Permalink

Yes, a MU100 sound module. The device description for GM is working with the GM mode of the MU100..how about adressing the native sounds of the MU100?
Can I edit the GM device description ?..then i can look how the soundbank is selected and the sound there...no  i remember it from the forum that is not possible..a DD must be  made in Synfire itself?
There is no tutorial about using a hardware midi soundmodule in Synfire...strange?

Tue, 2016-08-09 - 16:54 Permalink

I think that would be possibel to edit GM DD and add all of sound adresses for sw1000. If you remember I posted PDF of SW1000. There are all adresses of all sounds organized and shown as tables. I am not sure if DD from MU 100 we can use for SW1000. To know this, it would be necessery to check all the patches and banks informations with help of already mentioned PDF.  Here is the PDF once again. To make a DD for SW1000 would have sense only if we get rid of the problem with using of of boht midi out ports at same time.

Yes, do  you think it is possible to edit the DD for GM..suprizing!

Perhaps can the second midi out port from SW1000 xg also be routed to a rack in Synfire?

Tue, 2016-08-09 - 21:51 Permalink

Honestly, I am not shure if that is possible to edit GM DD. I just had en idea to export GM DD as XML(midnam) then edit it and import again. In our case is more interesting to export DD of MU 100 and edit it. By the way I can not download super quartet from link. Must be I was inpatient (I did not wat 120 min) and this site is punishing me for that, hahahaha

It would be realy nice if they help. I opened this exported xml lile with  "editor"  the smalll text programm from windows accssesories. Super Quartet runs excellent! Thank you for this!

A useful plugin the Super Quartet!
Is it possible to see the structure of the xml for GM ..and relate this with Synfire..understand this?
I studied a little bit in the past, but i must learn it the xml language.
I don't understand why there is no support from Cognitone, because in de DD online storage ..there is also a midi hardware soundmodule for emu ?

Wed, 2016-08-10 - 01:14 Permalink

Here you can download EMU PROTEUS VX, works good with Synfire. After installation do not forget to set compatibillity to win XP, before starting, otherwise will report error.  Link:   (http://www.creative.com/emu/proteusvx/)

I attached the midnam file so you can see in editor. I am not able le to handle with this.

Wed, 2016-08-10 - 01:23 Permalink

Yes, i named the EMU PROTEUS VX as a example hardware soundmodule to see how the DD is made there.
It is job for a specialist to do this for the sw1000xg to construct a DD..how do you think about this @leonbacardi ?

I attached the midnam file so you can see in editor. I am not able le to handle with this.

Can you attach the midnamit again, then i can open it in the "editor program" of windows

Info in a thread about the sw1000xg  http://forum.recordingreview.com/f8/korg-x50-patch-list-cubase-15767/
Its for Cubase..is the sw1000xg working in Cubase and showing up all sounds there ?
Is there no editor (midiquest ) what makes the midnam files http://www.squest.com/Products/MidiQuest11/Instruments/YamahaSW1000XG/index.html

Create Cubase, Cubasis, and Nuendo patchscript files with SW1000 XG patch names...

If you can make automatically with midiquest a pathscriptfile for sw1000xg for Cubase 8.5..you can use this a a base for Synfire? .
Maybe a advanced soundeditor can also export a midnam file ? .. i remember sounddiver ( i do have a copy somewhere) from e-magic https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=153435

If it possible to extract a midinam from sw1000xg with a soundeditor, then it can be imported in Synfire
Is the A MU90R identical  as the sw1000xg ?

Device Descriptions

The repository of device descriptions is now accessed directly from within the installed software. In order to download or share device descriptions for Harmony Navigator and Synfire, please open Playback / Audio & MIDI Setup / Global Sounds / Online Repository from the running program

A MU90R synfire device is useless for Sw1000xg i think ?..you need another one ( first a midinam) and then import this in Synfire

Try to connect this AMU90 R device description for the sw1000 XG ?...cannot go be wrong?..if you see smoke coming out of the computer..haha

I installed a demo of midi quest 11 and loaded from the website and imported a sw1000xg ..but i don't have the sw1000xg installed..

Can you install a demo of midi quest 11 and load sw1000xg and try to get a midinam form it ?..if this is possible you could load this in Synfire to make a DD out of it

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

.midnam XML Instrument Description (Midi Quest Pro)

XML Instrument descriptions (midnam files) are a new standard format for describing instrument names
and configurations. The initial implementations of this format are on the Macintosh, however we expect

the format to come to Windows as well. As this format takes a complete instrument view, it can only be

created from a Midi Quest set which provides the required instrument structure information.

To utilize an XML instrument definition, please follow the instructions in XML Name Server.

When midnam files are created on the Macintosh, Midi Quest also automatically creates a .middev file in

case it is required to correct access by the host. For more information, please see the MIDIDevice page.

On the Macintosh, midnam files need to to stored in the /Library/Audio/MIDI Patch Names folder in order

for the information to be accessible to the sequencers. In current Macintosh OS versions, this folder also

requires higher level administrator security in order to write to the directory. As a result, you will need to

write the file to a location with user access such as the desktop. Once written, you will then need to

manually copy the file into the /Library/Audio/MIDI Patch Names folder (or a sub-folder of that folder) to

be used.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You need a full working copy of midi quest to try this..and it seems to be not possible to use for Windows...only MAC
I don't know if soundiver has to offer a midinam export ...( old software )
There must be info loaded to the XML Name server were the actual converting process takes place..and the midinam is created?

Wed, 2016-08-10 - 14:35 Permalink

Yes, you need a full working copy of midi quest 11 .. to try to get a working midinamfile for sw1000xg : it costs between 400- 500USD ?
Maybe i can find this software on a cheaper way?
Read the manual of the demo of midiquest 11.
Another option try to learn the XML language and make manual a midinam for sw1000xg...could be a BIG task
