Arrange phrase editor window - is it being used?

Posted

Is anyone using the phrase editor windows (that open from the arrange window) on a regular basis?

We are thinking about doing away with extra windows and integrating those into the arrange view. The only justification for these is working on multiple phrases at the same time, which however could also be accomplished in the arrange view.

I don't know for sure (not so much experience), but I think working on multiple phrases is fine for melody oriented (and varying) phrase building.

There could be more tools on melody variation. Added to tools as "flipping" a.o.

I open a Take in a separate window every once in a while for determining exact pitches. The integrated view (at least in 1.8.5) did not show note pitches for Takes.

I need those for example when manually analyzing harmony. (See my request at (https://users.cognitone.com/topic/display-note-information-when-inline-…)).

Next time I'm at the studio I'll try out whether there are other workflows where I use separate windows.

I use this view when I have trouble selecting parameters as i find it easier to zoom in or move around with just the one phrase view rather than everything view (it seems a lot quicker). Also use it in conjunction with libraries but maybe could do without it for that workflow.

We think about zooming in on the phrase, such that it temporarily replaces the entire instrument sheet. This would be similar to how a DAW zooms into a single piano roll or audio waveform.
