Can Synfire take a 'rhythm' snapshot of a portion of a midi file and save it as a template for reuse?
If not, it would certainly be great.
One of the great things about the REX Groove Machine StylusRMX is that it has a feature where it reads the rhythmic timing of any of the loaded REX files and then will copy it temporarily to any of the other loaded files so that you can create a consistent groove.
In one way or another, most DAWs also permit this.
While I'm still in HN2 I see that there are set rhythm templates, but I haven't yet found out about creating my own.

you can use any of the figures from your library for rhythms
just drag figure to Rhythm parameter ..
save template not necessary actually
you can create a rhythm library for this purpose, its much more useful than templates I.M.O.

Is there a way to bring over the sketch library in Synfire Ex to the SE library ?
Perhaps is my workflow not good ? .. i can also make a sketch from a container
I want to bypass the sketch feature, but only uses his phrases.
Do i miss something?

i try it again Supertonic..
Is there a way to bring over the sketch library in Synfire Ex to the SE library ?
I want to bypass the sketch feature, but only uses his phrases for the arrangement window
---------------------------------------------------
Yes, perhaps i can drag the phrase from the sketch library into the figure parameter in the arrangment windows..yes the pattern is showing up --only the drums are not assigned to the phrase?
i use a GM soundbank in Halion4 ..it is loaded at start ..than i go to the sketch and use a drum phrase there and drop this on the figure parameter..the phrase is there but no drumsound
The sketch drums uses also the GM from Halion4 ?...the phrases are neutral
It should be handy if the drag from the sketch library into the arrangement window assigns also automatically the drumsound.
----------------------
I am thinking on HN2 where you drag the phrase to phrase editor window and with "replace sound" you get the right sound..how about this doing in Synfire Exp?
------------------------------------
it seems that the sketch library can be dragged over to the SE library ! , but using the phrase from the SE library and drop this in the arrangement window gives the phrase without the right sound (drums for example )..easy to assign the right sound..but what means now : "Replace Sound" in the sketch window ? ( the phrase pattern replaces the existing sound from the instrument ) ..starting with one drumloop
"Replace sound"is for working with the sketch setup.has nothing to do with the arrangement window
Ok i can transfer all "HN2" phrases to the library of SE ( no export/import ) and doing the saoundassigning by hand ( using the library sound assigning data )

Sorry, Janamdo: What do you mean to say? What was your question?
I'm interested in this as well.
I believe he is asking how to bring his HN2 sketch/ basis accompaniments into Synfire/ Express.
Is there a simple way to do this?
Also ... probably should be a different topic, but ... are the phrase file extensions the same in HN2 and Synfire? I am hoping I can just drag the HN2 phrase/ pattern library directory directly into SFE.
Or is there some import/ file conversion process?

Hi Prado!

Yes , exactly i am searching for this( and ask for this ) ..not found yet
:-?
Also ... probably should be a different topic, but ... are the phrase file extensions the same in HN2 and Synfire? I am hoping I can just drag the HN2 phrase/ pattern library directory directly into SFE.
Yes it can..it seems that dragging into the SE mainlibrary is possible,BUT the phrase is not the same anymore..it sounds different as it is now the case.
Dragging the sketchphrases into SFE in the instrument tracks gives the same phrase as in the Sketch library..they sound the same...that is good.
But i like to have the same phrases from the sketchlib also in the mainlib , so how to get the phrase in the library?
Perhaps has SFE a limitation for this opposite SFP? ( SFE =SFP stripped off )
------------------------------------------------------------------------
It works very good !.. first you drag the sketch phrase to the mainwindow of SFE ( try to get the right soundassigning first also by choosing new instrument with the same sound--> than you get a container default..than dragging)... otherwise when you drag the phrase to the arrangment library it gets the wrong sound.

I've created the enclosed libraries which contain all phrases from all Basis Sketches. I hope they can be opened with SF Express (they are created with Pro).

Thank you very much! I was thinking that there might be more phrases from the accompaniments than in the example folders.
Even if they are the same (?), it is still easier to find them based on 'I liked that guitar in ... '

PS Saving stuff for SFE!

Hi Juergen..thanks!
I loaded the coglib : Basis_Sketches_Arpeggio_Guitar.coglib ..( you combined the two basissketches)
Yes the library file can be loaded, and it shows arps , and guitar picking, rhytm ..they differ from the default sketch library..so they are a nice addition and in a large number !
-------------------------------------------------------------
Now i must merge both libraries, the phrase sketch library with the basis sketch phrases ..in one arrangement (library) i am working to get the phrase sketch library into the arrangement library.
Than i open your Basis_Sketches_Arpeggio_Guitar.coglib, and it opens in a own library window ( there is no import in a existing library possible seems?)..BUT it is easy to drag the phrases to and from library..solved.
