Random figures? The best choice (to me)

Open brackets.
In the end I have to recognize that, until now, I got the most interesting results by plotting figures at random with the pencil tool (see attached pic).
Trying to adapt traditional or classical tunes to new harmonies can be, on the contrary, very frustrating; but I still have to find my suitable workflow.
