The first thing you probably want to do with Synfire is to get more phrases into it to work with. The quickest way to do this is to import them from MIDI files.
This is a progression document with various progressions of many Jazz Standards. You'll find the progressions listed by song names on the Section menu.

i prefer to use linear recognition and Horizontal symbol for this kind of material
also VL is weak but keyboard mixed ( without sustain :) ) gives some great ideas too..

Here is a Progression Preset which consists of ten progressions. Many are 16 bars long with fairly fast chord changes. Download this and place in Mac HD/Library/Application Support/SynfirePro/Config/Progressions. It will then show up a preset progression when you upoen the Harmony Template.
You can use theses phrases for some inspiration, dedication, remove frustration RnB bass parts.
Here are a bunch of midifies, quantized to some well known drum machines. You could copy/paste the rhythm to your phrases, to get a wider selection of humanized, quantize values.
